⇒ forcevisions ⇒ we yikes'd chewbacca for ben

[ it had started with the wookiee's chewbacca, han tells him death. something was off. as though the entire galaxy hiccuped and there was something it needed to tell you, but couldn't catch the words out of the air.

but as he bore down on rey, he could see something had changed within her. There had always been darkness within her, she had all the power she needed to bring the galaxy to its needs, but she chose this path instead. that's why her actions stood out more. every emotion magnified and as she tugged and pulled and yanked at the transporter, there wasn't just frustration or hate-- but guilt. deeper than anything she had shown him before.

the lapse in concentration is enough to drag him, enough time for her to jerk the ship back as crackling light launched itself from her finger tips.

his features twist-- along with his gut. and there just wasn't enough time. no time to process over the pitched screaming of rey as finn and poe finally drag her away.

the only thing preventing him from making the leap to the idea that she did it purposefully was the fact that it wasn't an act. her grief was real.

from there, things happened at a break neck pace. another near miss and he's frustrated with her. she keeps running away and he's left alone to stew in his anger and annoyance. at the very least, he knows where she's headed.

as he boards his fighter a sudden feeling hits him. almost like a wave of nostalgia. a voice tells him this is the last he'll see of the first order and that this would come with a great cost. it upends him, upsets him. he can't process these emotions, there's not enough time. he had to get to rey before palpatine did.

he manages to succeed, but rey still feels different, odd in some of her normal mannerisms. not dishonest, but as though she's masking something else deep within her. and there's this look she gives him before she activates her blade. longing, despair, desperation. he wonders if palpatine has created an illusion that will lead him to his death, but the attacks, the aggression, it's all rey.

he understands a little more when he feels the hushed whisper of his mother, as rey's blade enters his body and he collapses with it. it's too much, far far far too much. a year ago he would have rejected these emotions, raged against life and the unfairness of it all.

luke, chewbacca, his father and now his mother were all gone.

and then rey pours herself into him. she won't let him die.

he wants to say whatever magic words that will convince her to do this with him, but they aren't located within his vocabulary. and she's off again, even steals his ship. typical really. he'll have to endure the incoming migraine that will result from him trying to find a ship fast enough to get to her before she does anything reckless.

okay anything ELSE reckless.

his father's memory... his ghost, ben doesn't know how to categorize it really, appears before him. eases his bruised ego and urges him to let go of the rage he had held on to his entire life. fight for his mother's cause to honor her. let her live on through this legacy. it's the least he can do after helping dismantle it.

once his crossguard hits the waves, he realizes he's going to die.

war couldn't kill kylo ren, but the resulting peace would.

and he rushes straight for his destiny.

don't ask him how he got the ship, or where. just know he managed to find a decent one... and is only vaguely insulted that she just SET HIS SHIP ON FIRE. he won't read into the implications too much at this moment in time.

luke isn't entirely happy to see him. rey seems near mute for a few long moments. it's an awkward entrance, he shouldn't even know where this island was located. the very energy of the island itself bubbles and vibrates around him, as though to reject him in all his darkness. but luke's stiff posture loosens when he sees ben with out a mask, with no armor, no gloves, or cape. this is ben.

she brought him back.

luke shouldn't be surprised, but he is. the shock doesn't subside one bit as ben descends on rey, circling her and grabbing at any part of her she'll let him reach. a hand, a shoulder, it didn't matter. he can feel her distress rolling off of her, the desire to give into the dark.

he won't let her get there. ]

Tell me what you need. [ once again luke realizes he's the third wheel. jfc. he'll back off for a moment, giving them some space and really -- look at them. the bond between them sparks and glitters as bright as any sun. leia must have known, right? ] Anything, just tell me.

[ he's fully expecting her to gut him at this point but. lmao w/e its fine, saved him a few steps ig ]
