Kylo/Hux: This is such a huge maybe it's almost a no. I am not down for fluffy Kylo/Hux. I don't think Kylo or Hux secretly love each other and that takes form in them wanting to murder each other when they walk into a room and see each other. I do not think Kylo wants anything to do with Hux's dick Ever. I only see this happening as Hux taking advantage of Kylo when he's emotionally compromised and unprotected without Snoke keeping Hux in line.
So Kylux is only a "cool lets do it" if you are willing to play out something unhealthy, toxic, with a huge dose of hate and manipulation. I know everyone and their mom with an armchair psychologist degree wants to diagnose Kylo Ren/Ben Solo with whatever mental illness checks all the boxes. I know Bipolar and Borderline personality disorder are two popular illnesses to cite when it comes to his mental health. Along with a healthy dose of citing him as a sociopath/psychopath. However, I'm not going to be using those illnesses/personality disorders in how I play Kylo. While they fit on paper, I don't believe "what's wrong with him" presents in the correct fashion in canon for any one of the above listed issues.

I believe Kylo Ren/Ben Solo is suffering from: Recurring Chronic Major Depression it could be passed down through their family given what we know of Anakin and what happened with Luke; Post Traumatic Stress Disorder From his force powers manifesting with him having little control over it as a kid, from being sent away to Luke after his mother couldn't handle him on her own anymore, from his father leaving one day and never coming back, from having a voice whispering in his head his entire life, from that voice being a predator who preyed on his weaknesses and molded him into what he wanted Ben to be, from Luke Skywalker holding a lightsaber above his head, from abuse after abuse from Snoke, and probably a Ton more. Abandonment issues stemming first from his parents (And quite probably friends he had who left for whatever reason, or bridges he burned on his own) and then just. The entire force tbh. And abandonment issues is where he gets his unchecked rage, he, in canon, is quite literally triggered into a rage whenever he confronts someone who he felt abandoned him, or when he feels rejected or left behind. Finally he is a victim of Brainwashing and indoctrination from Snoke. Snoke is a narcissist who was using Kylo as a means to an end, it's been stated and shown that he was ready to kill Kylo after the Last Jedi since he had become unbalanced and unpredictable. If you don't agree with what I am saying here (Which is fine :) ), then I suggest you don't play with me. I am fairly confident in this being the way I see and play Kylo.

I play him as having triggers. I won't get into the reasoning behind each one, but i'll specify the specifics which come to mind: Abandonment (Perceived or real), his family, loss of control (Physically, emotionally, mentally, through the force)

[ Something akin to regret flutters through their connection at that. Only that she cannot share the truth with him — he trusts her, and he should because she's done this for him. But how could she begin to explain what the cost had been? What dark science she'd searched?

Rey smiles at him, then shuts her eyes.

It's harder to reach the light. More like on D'Qar than Exegal. Her mind is clouded as she chants, trying to bring their breath into a rhythm, plagued by the things she is avoiding and refusing to confront. Confronting fear, Luke had said, was the destiny of a Jedi, but —

There is no use in confronting it until it's over. There is no use in breeding that fear in Ben, when there is still a chance to save him. ]

Be with me. [ This last time sounds like a plea. ]

[ Any doubts he has are brushed away. He attributes them to cobwebs of his previous masters. Yes perhaps Rey seems to be struggling with something, but the news she just learned was.... Ground breaking. Something he could only expect to break the most iron of wills. He'd believed in Rey's capability to take it on and create something of her own, there'd be no other reason he'd be eager to tell her-- but there's some darkness resting in corners of her mind he isn't used to.

But he's here now. He isn't sure about the label of Jedi, he's not sure what his place would be after this, but he belongs with-- no. He belongs to Rey. He would honor his mother's and father's memory.

That alone is enough light to cast away her shadows.

To assure her, his thumb runs along the back of her hand. What he had been certain of the moment Snoke had tried to claim it was true. They were one in the same and the bond sings with it. ]

[ Soft, gentle, a reminder that she wasn't alone as their minds and being can meld together.

Hopefully it's enough to work. ]

[ The air grows quiet until suddenly a woman's voice says, 'Rey?' Neither of them recognizes it. But on its heels is that of Anakin Skywalker, before his fall, calling for Ben as well.

'We're with you.'

It's a collective voice. Something bright and burning and somehow simultaneously calming. Rey opens her eyes and sees not the island of Ahch-to, but space surrounding her, and endless, luminous stars. ]

You've faced the Sith before. Palpatine has all of their power. We need yours to defeat him.

[ Kyl-- no Ben. He has to keep reminding himself of that, it's a bad habit by now. A name he latches on to when feeling insecure. And-- being faced with all the Jedi of the past is certainly something which induces a certain kind of insecurity within him. But he has to push them away now. He's committed himself to this. To her.

His eyes open only moments after hers and-- This isn't something he's ever seen. He's had visions, seen things through the Force.

But this is different. Hearing his name in so many different voices.

There's quiet encouragement. Whispers of ancient knowledge.

Still. Something's off. A ripple, something out of line by a centimeter that shifts something within himself. Within all this energy.

He attributes it to him. He is the huge hulking mass of darkness here. But he's decided on trying not to feel overtly self conscious at his sudden conversion. Again. Maybe if he survives this. Then he can work out whatever is fucking with the energy around them.

'We're behind you.'

'These are your final steps.'

It's odd. The sense of belonging. The twinkling lights of those who came before. This is what he had longed for all those years and every voice in his head had whispered they could give this to him.

He's quickly realizing how much all of that was a lie.

Ben's fingers squeeze hers a bit more tightly. They anchor one another. He has to hope that's enough. ]

[ The voice that forms most fully is one not belonging to the Jedi who came before — because what they have reached is bigger than that. It's a woman's voice. A blue image of a togruta forms before them both, her expression soft.

'You are no Jedi.' Rey bristles, defensive at first. 'Neither of you.' The woman looks at Ben then, and her smile turns lop-sided. 'You've both come a long way from where we left things.' ]

I called for help. [ Rey clarifies. ] Defeating Darth Sidious.

[ 'Your grandfather.' ]

He means nothing to me. He killed my family.

[ 'And he is your family. Both of these things can be true.' ]

[ Ah. There we go. Ben's protective side bristles internally. It's not the fierce hot white rage he'd been prone to these past few years, but it echos Rey's own emotions. ]

Family doesn't define who you are.

[ 'Have you finally learned that lesson?'

--Ouch. He supposes he deserved that one, especially when he identifies the identity of the voice and... well. It's Old Ben. Awkward, really. But somehow it does lower his defenses, if only a little. It appears Kenobi has learned the ways in which he failed Luke and Anakin.

'They aren't Jedi, but the Jedi have failed them,' Kenobi's words are measured and resound enough to send the lights glimmering around them.

It appears he may have hit a sore spot.

Whispers and murmurs of how this is unorthodox, how Anakin had to pay for Darth Vader's sins, a multitude of debates occurring just out of earshot.

His fingers grip Rey's so tight that his knuckles turn white. If they would refuse her because of him, he would die at her feet before letting her fail. ]

[ 'The Jedi have failed a lot of people, Obi Wan.'

None more than Ahsoka Tano.

This is what floods them now. The ways in which the Jedi caused the collapse of the Republic. Even Yoda's grief and shame comes to them, for he had personally felt responsible for Anakin's fall to the Dark Side. Obi Wan's own sentiments mirror it.

They both recall the day the Jedi turned Ahsoka out of the order. She smiles on them now.

'There is another path. Beyond the Sith and the Jedi. I can show you the path.' ]

Please. [ There are tears in Rey's eyes, and desperation chokes her voice. ] If we don't stop him now, it will have all been for nothing.

[ 'Fear is at the heart of the Dark Side. That will be the thing that destroys the Sith, just like it was fear that poisoned the Jedi. And ... it's fear that drives you now, too, isn't it, Rey? Unless you learn to accept that fear, you won't be able to beat him. Unless you can let go of your hatred, he will use it against you.' ]

[ It nearly feels like she's drowning. Ben can't identify the reason, not precisely. Certainly she had fear about things, he knew of every emotion of hers intimately. But her mind and emotions are nearly like static. As though she's hiding something right below the surface. ]

I'm with her. [ It slips out of his mouth before he knows what he's trying to say precisely.

'Your life has been driven by fear, Ben.'

He's really gonna have to get used to people using that name freely, isn't he? Perhaps he should be more shocked about how easy it was to shed Kylo Ren... but Kylo Ren had been dead. ] Not anymore.

[ The resolution in him is clear, ringing like a bell. He'd give his life for this cause if he had to. There were more important things... more important people than him. ]

We're stronger together-- [ He squeezes Rey's hand. Trying to assure her. Trying to reach her through her own fog. ] -- but we still need guidance.
