Kylo/Hux: This is such a huge maybe it's almost a no. I am not down for fluffy Kylo/Hux. I don't think Kylo or Hux secretly love each other and that takes form in them wanting to murder each other when they walk into a room and see each other. I do not think Kylo wants anything to do with Hux's dick Ever. I only see this happening as Hux taking advantage of Kylo when he's emotionally compromised and unprotected without Snoke keeping Hux in line.

I know everyone and their mom with an armchair psychologist degree wants to diagnose Kylo Ren/Ben Solo with whatever mental illness checks all the boxes. I know Bipolar and Borderline personality disorder are two popular illnesses to cite when it comes to his mental health. Along with a healthy dose of citing him as a sociopath/psychopath. However, I'm not going to be using those illnesses/personality disorders in how I play Kylo. While they fit on paper, I don't believe "what's wrong with him" presents in the correct fashion in canon for any one of the above listed issues.

I believe Kylo Ren/Ben Solo is suffering from: Recurring Chronic Major Depression it could be passed down through their family given what we know of Anakin and what happened with Luke; Post Traumatic Stress Disorder From his force powers manifesting with him having little control over it as a kid, from being sent away to Luke after his mother couldn't handle him on her own anymore, from his father leaving one day and never coming back, from having a voice whispering in his head his entire life, from that voice being a predator who preyed on his weaknesses and molded him into what he wanted Ben to be, from Luke Skywalker holding a lightsaber above his head, from abuse after abuse from Snoke, and probably a Ton more. Abandonment issues stemming first from his parents (And quite probably friends he had who left for whatever reason, or bridges he burned on his own) and then just. The entire force tbh. And abandonment issues is where he gets his unchecked rage, he, in canon, is quite literally triggered into a rage whenever he confronts someone who he felt abandoned him, or when he feels rejected or left behind. Finally he is a victim of Brainwashing and indoctrination from Snoke. Snoke is a narcissist who was using Kylo as a means to an end, it's been stated and shown that he was ready to kill Kylo after the Last Jedi since he had become unbalanced and unpredictable. If you don't agree with what I am saying here (Which is fine :) ), then I suggest you don't play with me. I am fairly confident in this being the way I see and play Kylo.

I play him as having triggers. I won't get into the reasoning behind each one, but i'll specify the specifics which come to mind: Abandonment (Perceived or real), his family, loss of control (Physically, emotionally, mentally, through the force)

[ He could balance the scales, redeem himself through good deeds. The galaxy would have no choice but to acknowledge his contributions. It's what she wants to say, a pragmatic proposal, but she stills her tongue. He isn't ready. He's admitted as much, and the additional pressure... it isn't what he needs. ]

I'm the last Jedi, Ben. You and I — we're the only two Force-users left. [ She offers this as factual rather than haughty arrogance. ] I could put you under my authority. They would have no say in it.

[ Selfish, yes. Above all else, it's a form of desperation and a refusal to lose him. She won't allow him to be taken from her in that way. ]

[ Well-- at the very least execution is off the table. He's not sure how to feel about that if only because he knows he doesn't deserve such mercy. After all the pain and strife he created, he deserved nothing less than a messy end.

But Rey's will was unmatched. He doubted even his mother could face her. ]

The Jedi Order may have a chance with you in charge of rebuilding it.

[ If the mood were lighter, she would echo "may" for no other reason than to give him cheek. As it stands, the mood isn't one that allows for levity. It's too solemn, bogged down by the weight of who they are and who they may become when this is all over. ]

I hope so.

[ If nothing else, Ben believes in her. He's one of the few that ever has. Warmth bursts in her chest, suddenly overwrought with that realization, and the resulting fondness spreads across her expression. Her mouth softens in time with the tenderness to her eyes, nearing a smile. ]

[ Should he stay with her, choose this life with her, but she doesn't want to imagine that he might decide to walk a separate path without her once again. ]

He should be less amazed that she insists on having him in her life. That she’s willing to face hell and heaven to keep him at her side. As it stands he can’t tell if that’s good or bad. If he’s destroying what she should be creating— hindering it. But as it stands he knows she won’t let him contemplate the possibility.

[ She confirms that with a smile that borders on conspiratorial, though it does raise a tangential concern. Taking him into her authority would look — questionable, if the specific nature of their relationship were to be revealed. Reason to doubt her, unfortunately, and bring her bias into the equation. It's a worry for another time, however, and though they've discussed it, it's still a hypothetical. There could still be another route for him to take, another chance for his redemption elsewhere. That's his choice. ]

[ Those that condemn emotional attachment, she means. She has suffered years of isolation; imposing that same fate on anyone else doesn't sit right with her. ]

[ Theres a tug of expression at his mouth. Something wistful and a little distant. Remembering something that's long since passed. ]

[ She doesn't know what to make of that information. In some ways, it reminds her that Luke hadn't been so wizened and misguided, once upon a time. In others, it's a testament to how defeated he had been. She won't end up like him, she tells herself. As she had said, there are lessons to be learned from the past; carrying forward without repeating the same mistakes as Luke, as the fallen Jedi Order, can bring them the harmony that had been so unreachable to others.

But she can't do it alone. Pulling herself from those thoughts, she's contemplatively quiet for a moment. Her lips press together when she looks up at him. ]

[ She repeats, clearly disapproving. It sounds like it's mostly conjecture on Ben's part, that Luke had taken no strong position either way, but it's the context that perturbs her the most. After they had graduated. ]

It hardly seems fair to her that they would be denied that, expected to set aside all emotional attachments until they were truly prepared. She is too steeped in the connections she has found to think they could be more of a disadvantage than the benefit they have been in all that they've given her. A place where she is, for the most part, accepted. A place where she can do good, and the purpose that comes with it. Reason to fight, when she has only ever served herself, when survival has demanded she be selfish. ]

[ A soft sound in his chest as he feels her resolve against how Luke had taught them. Honestly he wonders if she's angrier with Luke than he is now. It made sense, Luke was only his uncle-- but to her he was a legendary hero. ]

He wasn't against it, but he didn't want his students fucking one another and stirring up problems while we were trying to focus on the Force.

You would still have to focus on the Force after you finished training. [ Like ??? It's not like fucking has forced her to forget where her loyalties lie. She can't imagine it would be any different for Luke's students. ] I don't see what difference it makes.

[ If anything, it sounds to her like expecting everyone to abandon all other aspects of their life if they don't somehow benefit the Force. Deprivation for the sake of one's training. ]

It wasn't about denying emotional connections- not to the extreme of the other Jedi teachings. It was more so Luke didn't have to deal with walking in on intimate moments or any fall out if the relationships got... complicated.

[ Complicated. A catch all term encapsulating, in this instance: Break-ups, cheating, unrequited love, Weird mushy poetry, having to listen to ANYONE lament about Ben's sad pretty eyes, weird hyper competitive bullshit, Hormones, PREGNANCY, and much much more. ]

If someone can't handle something like another person not returning their feelings, then they shouldn't be a Jedi to begin with.

[ On the other hand, they are discussing teenagers, but Rey has no frame of reference for that. She's never had the childhood that he has, and solitude had been her only truly loyal friend for a number of years. Every relationship she had built beyond that, until recently, had been founded on bartering and trade-offs. Alliances to benefit one another. Relationship fallout and all it involves isn't terribly familiar, understandably.

More than that, she can't help but to feel he's lecturing her, speaking to her like she's a child just because of her limited experience with normal occurrences like relationships and studies. ]

And while he could poke at the very fact that developing feelings for him had, in fact, hindered her in some ways. That won't get him anywhere and that would be saying something just to make himself feel correct. Which is all well and good until ur alone at night with only your hand cause ur a fukkin dumbass. ]

You haven't lost your focus or resolve. [ Because, despite how distracting Kylo Ren just Popping up into her life was. From the looks of it Luke had been more of a hindered to her studies than he had. Which was another matter for a different time. ] But unrequited love and suffering for it isn't a weakness-- it's generally a fact of life. Not even a Jedi is immune to it.

Luke recognized the strength in those emotions, in being able to wield the Force through them. But love is volatile. It can cause even the most loyal of your students to turn on each other-- [ He glances down at her quickly. ] -- or even their master.

[ Defensiveness has made her snappish. Jumpy, even, in that she has reached the conclusion that he's inserting words like weakness and suffering in her mouth.

By this point, it feels like he has agreed with her decision, encouraged it by bolstering it with what Luke had once considered, and then immediately begun to criticize her for it. They're not going to agree, she realizes, and she's already tired of hearing him tear down her points so methodically. To Rey, it feels an awful lot like lacking faith in her own vision of what the Jedi could be. Lacking faith in her to do right by it. ]

Restricting what someone is allowed to feel isn't right, Jedi or not. [ She says, finally, and rolls off of him to be able to stretch her legs off of the side of the couch. ] You obviously see it differently.

[ He'll sit up and look at her a ---- LITTLE PUZZLED. Because she just stated that she doesn't believe someone should be a Jedi based on their feelings But then WE SHOULDNT RESTRICT THEM.... ] I don't see it differently.

[ BECAUSE IF HE DID HE WOULDN'T BE FUCKING HER. WOULDNT HAVE KILLED SNOKE FOR HER.

Rey, tell me what you're feeling. [ WOW THAT SOUNDS LIKE A DICK COMMAND ] Please.

[ Arguing over Jedi principles isn't how she wants to spend her time when she's set to head out in the near future. It isn't how she imagined these moments, either, but that's precisely what they're doing. ]

I'm feeling like I don't want to talk about the Jedi anymore.

[ In this, like she is in most things, she's bluntly straightforward. She lacks the social finesse to say "I don't want to talk about this, let's change the subject" but, at the very least, she's purposefully spared his feelings. It isn't sugarcoated, no, but it's far better than admitting she's rankled and irate. ]

[ Purposefully sparing him, unfortunately, also means callously shoving him out of the conversation. Telling him he disagrees with you And shutting down any opinion he had because she's irate and rankled.

He'd wanted to offer insight and clarification, because despite Luke Skywalkers many failings-- he had never believed in the tradition of cutting emotional attachments. And somehow he wanted Rey to know that.

So he wants to speak. To snip that he simply tried to answer her question, that he offered her his own experience from what he had seen-- But he looks around and realizes in all honesty. He's at her mercy.

Something simmers in his gut and he stands then-- And says the dumbest thing he could muster at this point. ]

[ yikes tbh. He's going to make his way back to where he's dropped his gloves and open the ramp. ]

[ He'll be back in the village, but she won't be returning to it now. Rather than rub salt into the wound, take to hurting him in retaliation for fucking her and then leaving the moment she gives him the honesty he'd asked for, she does what any maladjusted nineteen year old might do, and —

Ignores it. Refuses to grant him any sort of response, any sort of acknowledgement. Moisture prickles in her eyes, courtesy of a frustrated anger, as she gathers her shirt from the floor and storms past him. Deeper, into the bowels of the Falcon, where she intends to stay for the rest of the evening as unhealthy coping mechanisms dictate. ]

[ yikes yikes yikes. The onlything good I can say about his response is-- he'd been tempted to spit venom but held back. But not even for a great reason.

And as he steps off the ship he realizes how out of depth in all of this he feels. He hadn't had any real relationships in so long that he's entirely with out the mental or emotional resources to deal with this. He's not even sure what this is.

And as he wanders past the lanai and into the dim little hut his traitorous mind wonders if this is why she wanted him to hold off. If they were truly designed to just bring each other pain. After all, this is what his parents had done. Argued with one another and butted heads and hurt each other until one day his father didn't come back home.

Worse yet it had ultimately been over him.

He slumps back into the bundle of blankets and the sparse few pillows and glances at the datapad Rey brought him. He nearly picks it up before guilt eats at him and suddenly he just feels.

Tired.

He wonders if he should apologize, but it would ring hollow and he knows that. Not because he doesn't have things he needs to apologize for, but because he doesn't know what to apologize or how to apologize given she doesn't want to discuss it.

So-- he lays down and studies the room from where he lay. Trying to find peace when his mind is in conflict with itself. His eyes do close after some time and his mind drifts. But no where peaceful.

The arguing of his parents, the Falcon growing smaller on the horizon, Snoke's voice-- Snoke's touch, the face of Luke that night-- the taste of leather. ]

[ She doesn't return.

It isn't a decision made out of resentment or spite. Her avoidance is too steeped in hurt, in defensiveness, for anything less to be a motivating factor. As far as she is concerned, he has made it clear he no longer wants to be around her — has reacted to her honesty, her wish to change the subject to one less rife with disagreement — and she adapts accordingly.

Ironically, it brings with it the same fate she had been hoping to avoid in shutting down that conversation: tension between them and injured feelings. She isn't equipped to sort it out, and his evasion of her eliminates most of her desire to chase him down and rectify it, no matter the empty loneliness and the longing that results from it.

To distract herself, she throws on that ratty shirt and ignores the cum that wants to cling to her thighs. Her underwear still lay discarded in that hut, courtesy of squabbling Lanai, but the tackiness of her skin doesn't bother her. Only reminds her that he isn't here as she sets to work on tinkering with the Falcon, heading down to adjust the propulsion tank, which seems to only serve as a further reminder that she'll be leaving him soon enough.

Still, there's work to be done. Work that provides a decent distraction every time her mind threatens to wander. ]

[ The island settles into a tense silence for a time. The Lanai squawking and shooing away porgs which attempt to nest in some of the older structures, gather food, and continue their chores. Kylo's mind floats-- or maybe it sinks instead. Nothing in the forefront of his mind but the undercurrents. A flickering worry, doubts, expanding beyond him.

Today it's Snoke. Snoke is with him again and whispering everything he doesn't want to here. That this is proof beyond doubt that he is worthless. That he should have stayed in the dark's hold, that he had been right on the cusp of being Vader's heir--

And combined with the echoing memory of Hux's touch and the cold biting through him in the hut, he has no easy place to escape.

He fidgets and moans and soon enough there is a small group of caretakers wandering up the Falcons ramp to come find Rey where ever she is. They have never been polite and always seem....

Grouchy.

But this time they seem more frantic and panicked than anything else. ]

[ The distance wedged between them, for the most part, keeps their consciousnesses separate. Two different entities, not quite closed off to one another but made distinct by how she has instinctively narrowed the connection so that she may concentrate elsewhere. Without projecting and broadcasting her own emotions so blatantly, more importantly.

Busying herself unfortunately means she isn't prepared for any company, and doesn't sense it as anything more than a nagging pull. When she recognizes a new presence in the Falcon for what it is, it's already too late. The Lanai have swarmed their way into the engineering bay to squawk and titter. Understandably, she can't translate any of it, and her experiences with the caretakers in the past is — unpleasant, at best.

She hasn't forgotten their earlier judgement today. The morning is still fresh in her mind, as is their tendency to invade the hut whenever they please. In this equation, Rey is the grouchy one. ]

You need to leave.

[ First they've barged into the hut she's taken up, and now the Falcon. That piece of junk is too important for her not to feel irate. ]

[ Yeah. That's not gonna work. They aren't versed in dealing with sith lord wannabes who are dealing with nightmares. And trying to Mime "THAT EMOJACK ASS YOU BROUGHT" is difficult. One may be pointing to some bunched up black cloth that is laying across a table but that's just working about as well as you can expect it to. Which is not at all.

Instead a couple reach in and pull at her and just sound more panicked in needing her immediate attention. ]
