Kylo/Poe: I'm not of the fanon that Ben or Poe knew each other as kids. If you want to play that, talk with me first, we'll need to hash out details. If you wanna do hateship, that's fine too. Again. I'd like to be consulted first
Kylo/Hux: This is such a huge maybe it's almost a no. I am not down for fluffy Kylo/Hux. I don't think Kylo or Hux secretly love each other and that takes form in them wanting to murder each other when they walk into a room and see each other. I do not think Kylo wants anything to do with Hux's dick Ever. I only see this happening as Hux taking advantage of Kylo when he's emotionally compromised and unprotected without Snoke keeping Hux in line.
So Kylux is only a "cool lets do it" if you are willing to play out something unhealthy, toxic, with a huge dose of hate and manipulation. Kylo/ANYONE ELSE: Not against pretty much any other ship, but Kylo's a hard dude to ship with for. A lot of reasons. Talk with me first, and I'll see if we can work something out.

Mental health
I know everyone and their mom with an armchair psychologist degree wants to diagnose Kylo Ren/Ben Solo with whatever mental illness checks all the boxes. I know Bipolar and Borderline personality disorder are two popular illnesses to cite when it comes to his mental health. Along with a healthy dose of citing him as a sociopath/psychopath. However, I'm not going to be using those illnesses/personality disorders in how I play Kylo. While they fit on paper, I don't believe "what's wrong with him" presents in the correct fashion in canon for any one of the above listed issues.
I believe Kylo Ren/Ben Solo is suffering from: Recurring Chronic Major Depression it could be passed down through their family given what we know of Anakin and what happened with Luke; Post Traumatic Stress Disorder From his force powers manifesting with him having little control over it as a kid, from being sent away to Luke after his mother couldn't handle him on her own anymore, from his father leaving one day and never coming back, from having a voice whispering in his head his entire life, from that voice being a predator who preyed on his weaknesses and molded him into what he wanted Ben to be, from Luke Skywalker holding a lightsaber above his head, from abuse after abuse from Snoke, and probably a Ton more. Abandonment issues stemming first from his parents (And quite probably friends he had who left for whatever reason, or bridges he burned on his own) and then just. The entire force tbh. And abandonment issues is where he gets his unchecked rage, he, in canon, is quite literally triggered into a rage whenever he confronts someone who he felt abandoned him, or when he feels rejected or left behind. Finally he is a victim of Brainwashing and indoctrination from Snoke. Snoke is a narcissist who was using Kylo as a means to an end, it's been stated and shown that he was ready to kill Kylo after the Last Jedi since he had become unbalanced and unpredictable. If you don't agree with what I am saying here (Which is fine :) ), then I suggest you don't play with me. I am fairly confident in this being the way I see and play Kylo.
I play him as having triggers. I won't get into the reasoning behind each one, but i'll specify the specifics which come to mind: Abandonment (Perceived or real), his family, loss of control (Physically, emotionally, mentally, through the force)

Oh hey look I play kylo again. But he's not talking.
His mind is like a beehive. Hyperactive and vibrated as his body struggles to obey him. He pulls himself on the bunk by sheer force of will-- and he realizes if he wanted to, at this point he could probably tear this cell down and escape.
If he wanted to.
But there's the crux of the matter. He knows he should be tearing at the walls, he attempts to drum up the energy, the anger and rage to do so. But an apathy has set in, an apathy that he hasn't truly felt in a while. He'd replaced it with other things, kept moving forward and as his mouth feels like cotton, as Chewie finishes his shift and walks away and relays something to him. As he feels his mother ebb and flow around him. Disbelieving, distrusting, and everything in between-- Again he has to wonder if his life really amounted to anything.
Snoke calls for him. Creeps in the shadows and whispers in his mind. It's not the violent assault it had been. Now it's cloying and... worried. Perhaps worried is too strong a term, but it makes him sick anyway.
Unease, distrust. He swallows it and gives Snoke the barest hint he's alive, but leaves it at that.
'You know it's true.'
The words ring through him.
He was going to kill his father, try to prove that he was worthwhile, useful-- that he had some larger destiny. Larger part in all of this.
But hunched in the small cot (too small for his form really) he knows it isn't true. He knows he was lying to himself. Snoke was going to kill him. The only possible way he wouldn't is if he ripped this entire station apart, killed his parents, and brought Luke's head to his master.
But that would mean he was too powerful.
That's when Rey enters.
Even half delirious and exhausted she pings through him. His urge is to turn and look to her, but-- he can feel that Poe is still glaring a hole in the back of his head and he doesn't want to let on to anyone here what's happening. Which... he doesn't even grasp what's happening yet. Why every time she's close by his mind becomes hyper focused on her. She was nothing-- no one. A dirty scavenger and while she was beautiful even covered in grime- it's not as though she should have such a magnetic hold on him.
And that, in turn, is easier to think on then his mortality and the end of his usefulness. So- for the moment, he'll remain curled up and still on the bunk. Eyes closed and focused on her and the puzzle that lay in this.
Poe, in turn, nods towards Rey-- they haven't really had time for a proper introduction. He just knows that Finn likes her, so he likes her-- and half the reason they went to Starkiller was to get her candy ass outta there because she was captured by Kylo Ren. Like. Spark notes, but he's got the basic picture.
'Heard you had the honor of dealing with him,' Him is said like a curse word. 'It's a small club, nice to see someone else make it out alive.'
The implication here fully being Not many do. Not an unfair assessment really. ]
i was going to say 'antisocial kylo ren hour' but like... that's just his existence in general
[ She asks, curious, and Poe confirms it with a nod. Rey latches onto that point of connection, the knowledge that Poe understands her bristling distrust on a level more personal. Finn has endured Kylo Ren for years in the First Order's service, yes, but he has never suffered Ren's violations. Not in the same manner she and Poe have.
'Yeah. I wouldn't have gotten out if it weren't for Finn,' he continues. ]
It looks like we both owe Finn, then. [ Her smile is faint, but genuine. Fond, unmistakably so, and overwhelmed. Finn had been the first to return for her. That isn't forgettable, and the knowledge that he had extended the same compassion to Poe affirms what she already knows: Finn is a good man. Among the best. After a pause, she adds, ] I'm Rey.
[ Poe huffs out a chuckle. Only then does he remove his gaze from Kylo's cramped cell. Tension still creeps along his spine, but he's relaxed minutely, shoulders visibly loosening. 'I know who you are.' She laughs, then. A grin stretches across her face, toothy and ebullient, as if her smile has its own wattage.
'We all know,' he points out. 'Word travels fast.' She doesn't know how she feels about that, truthfully. She's never had that intense scrutiny cast upon her. It's difficult not to feel like she's an animal being studied, a specimen they can't understand. She shakes the thoughts and continues the conversation. How is BB-8? Did they recover the map? 'Still a nuisance,' Poe says, but it's with a fondness to it. As for the map — 'We're working on it.'
Hours tick by. She learns a myriad about Poe: he grew up on Yavin IV, full of jungles not unlike their current planet, with bioluminescent plants and hammering rainstorms. His parents had been pilots, too. She listens raptly, and only when Leia enters does her attention turn from Poe. If nothing else, he has distracted from the buzzing in her brain whenever Kylo Ren is within range.
In Leia's hand sits a tray, filled with rations. In the other, a canteen of water. 'I need to speak with him,' she tells them, though her eyes never stray from Kylo's form. Poe's jaw hardens. 'General, he's dangerous—' but whatever he'd been prepared to say, whatever guard detail he'd wanted to offer, is dismissed.
'Alone,' Leia insists. Poe casts her one last glance over his shoulder as he and Rey move out of the room, standing just beyond it. Just in case, Poe says, skeptical. ]
You just described Kylo Ren COngrats
It must have been at Luke's camp. He tries to bring the memory to mind but with those memories come anxieties and he snaps that door shut as soon as it's open. And then he's offered a reprieve.
Well-- thought he was offered a reprieve. Instead his moth--the general wants to speak with him. Possibly try to reason with him. He stays facing the wall like a child. Petulant, moody-- only after the door is shut and he's assured that Poe and Rey are not witness to this act does he let go of any tension--
And then she begins to speak.
First offering food, saying he must be hungry, or thirsty. Those drugs did him no favor, he can't expect to subsist on air and spite alone. The air hangs still between them and he refuses to budge, so quietly she tries to appeal to her son. Saying that It isn't like him at all to turn down a meal, and she seals the entire sentence by saying his old name. ]
Your son is dead. [ His voice is hoarse and soft. It feels as if he's swallowed a wad of tissue paper. ] Didn't Han Solo inform you of that fact?
[ He wants to sound biting. But with the effect of his worn voice and his turned back it has the effect of a petulant child.
Leia pauses, he can feel emotions spike and churn through her. Frustration, anger, sorrow-- things he doesn't choose to identify or examine in these moments. But even still-- she speaks.
'You still need to eat.'
Her fingers graze his back and it's as if she touched him with fire. Distrust and anxiety course through his veins, as potent as any drug, and he leaps up-- his back pressed to the wall and drumming up the courage or will to remain impassive.
But he's a spooked and caged animal, it's clear across his face. He reigns in the heart pounding in his chest, takes stock of her expression and tries to ignore it. Compartmentalize it as a facade, a mask to fool him. His mother had known what he was and discarded him. She was shrewd, she knew Kylo Ren was useful. She would use him and throw him away.
It only made sense.
She sets the food down in front of him and moves away from him-- taking a seat on the bench across from his tiny cot. She doesn't speak, nor engage. Just waits patiently as he calms. It's several long extended minutes. Silent staring and confusion on his end before she gestures to the food and he connects what she's doing. A power play, of course.
He begrudgingly eats. It appeases her for the moment.
But only a moment.
Once she's gathered her bearings-- she starts to speak with him. Specifies where he is, what he's accused of and what type of trouble he's in. Gives him his options. Cooperation would be the best course for him, for the future of the galaxy. He could be apart of something greater, light a beacon of hope for all in the galaxy to see. And then asks him question after question after question.
He doesn't answer. Choosing instead to eat or drink in lieu of speaking. At the very least, she isn't surprised. She asks him about future plans, about what Snoke's ultimate goal was, about supply lines, training, whether specific planets would be used for exploitation in the future, which politician were pawns and which were being held hostage.
He has no answers for her. Snoke isn't here-- he can't feel him at this moment, but it would be unwise to speak either way. Even if it was to mislead. Any bit of food getting stuck in his throat could lead to a bout of anxiety and he's not keen on being ended in such a fashion.
And he's easily able to dismiss every question and remark, remain immobile and emotionless--
'What happened at Luke's?'
He stops chewing. Stilling suddenly and setting the tray aside.
Leia's realized she's hit upon something then.
'What happened with the other students? Why did you kill them?'
His heart starts pounding harder-- he's not sure why, he doesn't examine it. Hasn't examined it in a long time. His skin itches and it's harder to breathe.
'Ben, answer me.'
His mother thinks being stern will work on him as if he was still a child. His mother hasn't known anything about him in a long time. ]
Ask him.
[ His answer is flat and cold. He sets the tray with the half eaten rations and half drunk canteen on the floor and slides it towards Leia-- and curls back on to the cot.
Conversation over. Shut down.
Maybe some day Rey and Kylo will speak with one another. ]
ty, ty
When it becomes clear he won't offer more, she sets her hands on her knees and rises, leaving the tray where it sits.
'Believe it or not,' she says, stopping at the door. 'Your father and I are trying to save you.' And, with that, she disappears around the corner, and catches Poe in the midst of snooping, helplessly trying to catch snippets of a conversation, like a guard dog waiting for any threat to pounce upon. He's heard nothing, of course, but Leia gives him an unimpressed stare. Poe doesn't look apologetic in the least.
Soon after, she turns to Rey. She hates to make the same request of her, she says, but Rey is the only one equipped to resist Kylo's interference. It would be too easy for him to escape, manipulate others into unlocking his cell. Rey looks faintly surprised. ]
How do you — [ She glances at Rey's belt, then, and then back to her with the faintest trace of amusement. Oh. Right. 'I can sense it in you,' she tells Rey, and then pats her on the arm. Guards will be posted directly outside if she needs anything, Leia reassures her, adding that she wouldn't be asking it of her if it weren't imperative.
There's a wall of flexiglass between them, at the very least. There's no danger to her, Leia says. Poe starts to stammer out an argument, insisting he can handle it just fine, but Leia orders him to rest and refuel. He's been at his post long enough. Rey watches them both leave, Poe still arguing along the way, and then slides back into the corridor.
The hum beneath her skin returns with a vengeance, but she ignores its presence as she returns to her corner, intent to ignore the fact that she's been turned into a glorified babysitter for Kylo Ren. ]

He's attempted to get his wits back about him, even sat up to glance at the food the general left and then she comes waltzing back in. His eyes follow her form and he wonders at being left alone with her but-- it makes sense.
He broke Poe. No such luck with Rey.
He's tempted to try again, here, now. Perhaps convince her to open the door and let him walk out, but he can't quite get his teeth into the Force right now. And he hasn't puzzled out entirely why he was forced out so harshly.
Yes she was powerful, that was indisputable. But that didn't account for the fact that he couldn't see into her mind at all. It either meant she was exponentially more powerful than he could imagine, or that he was weaker than he thought. Neither of those ideas sit well with him (And he knows what Snoke would accuse him of) so he's hesitant to put any theory to the test.
Still, it's annoying that he didn't successfully interogate her. Get under her skin and have her spilling secrets that she didn't want to give. It came so easily to him, having one imperfect run was an inexcusable blemish. He rationalizes that as the reason he feels so attracted to her, that and her awakening abilities in the Force. She was untrained, rough around every edge-- but she could be powerful. It was tempting, he was just following the footsteps of others before him. Really, it was his duty to show her how to wield her powers.
Rationalization upon rationalization. It builds in his head until all the chatter comes to a halt when his eyes land on her belt.
Two light sabers. His grabs his attention immediately, but then the other.
His eyes narrow and-- for the moment he decides to say nothing. He finds it hard to believe she ever held a lightsaber in her life.
Remember how long We said they're gonna go with out talking? Kylo is taking a dump all over that.
THIS IS HIS FANFIC NOW BITCH. ]
Has Han Solo proven to be the father you've dreamed of?
[ He fully doesn't expect her to respond. His language is inflammatory on purpose. If he's going to talk to himself, might as well rile her to the point she gets angry. ]
no subject
It isn't trepidation that attaches itself to her limbs and turns them rigid. Kylo Ren is a defanged creature, locked away inside his cage, and she refuses to be afraid of him. To give him that sense of visceral power over her. But it is unsettling to be under his scrutiny once more, to hear that timber of his voice again, directed back at her like he means to extract more from her.
Her skin crawls. Prickles with gooseflesh. Ignoring him would be the strategic decision. She can't help but to respond — scathingly, at that. ]
I could ask you the same.
[ It stings, to some degree. Kylo Ren is a monster, and even his parents have shown their dedication to returning for him. Han Solo has been walking around with a void inside of him after the loss of his son; he'll no longer need her to fill it, no longer have a place for her on his crew, now that he has his own flesh and blood returned to him.
More significantly, it makes her despise Kylo further, envious of the family he has thrown away. The family he continues to throw away, sullen and unresponsive in his cell. ]
If you're trying to provoke me into opening your cell, it won't work.
[ That's what this is, isn't it? An attempt to free himself by goading her into anger, into confronting him physically. Her eyes bore holes into him with a laser-focus where she sits, a contradiction of exhausted alertness. ]
no subject
She hadn't blocked him out. Not traditionally-- But where as he had been feeling anxious and weak, lashing out at her to provoke a reaction a need to prove in some way he was powerful-- she was stubborn, resolute, bold. He feels it in the way he sits up and how his breathing starts to change.
She had gripped into his mind easily, just as he had pushed into hers.
It wasn't a wall-- but an exchange. There's no way she realizes it, or if she did that she'd accept it. Especially not coming from him.
His mind clicks faster, now given a problem to solve he doesn't feel as useless. He's working through this problem and trying to bend it to his favor. A curiosity more than anything, how far did this go? ]
Do you not feel accepted? [ He prods more. Her unasked questions, her responses, they aren't important. More over they're boring. More boring than the puzzle he's stumbled across. ]
Afraid they're preparing to replace you already?
no subject
The Resistance would tally it against him in an instant. Another blemish against Kylo Ren, another example to point to in support of an execution. It would be a deserved punishment, but her sympathy for Han — for Leia — stays her hand. Or, in this case, her tongue; she won't disclose what he's struggling to do, even while confined to a cell.
Something tells her it would be a greater punishment, greater justice, for him to survive. To look into the face of what he's done, grappling with the consequences of his confinement and the stains of his past, rather than face any executioner. ]
Stay out of my head. [ She hisses, slow and venomous. ] You've failed. Nothing will change that now.
[ Not even prying into her mind like the parasite he is. ]
no subject
[ He sits up straighter on the cot then, setting his feet on the ground and boring a hole into her eyes with how closely he studies her. Staring through her more than at her. ]
No. [ He answers his own question. Clarifies. The Force is singing between them, there's a tension in the room that's undeniable. A draw between them. ] You're in denial.
[ He states it as he would state the color of the sky or reciting a verse from the Jedi texts. She didn't want to be tied to him, obviously. She'd let that cloud the more interesting quandary of why they could be tied together. ]
no subject
You've done something. [ The accusation is hard, flinty. A theory she truly believes. What she knows of him supports that argument, at any rate; Kylo Ren would sink so low as to implant himself inside of her mind, but to what end? Influence over her mind? No, that hadn't worked the first time, but it goes give her hope that she can eject him just the same, just as forcibly as she had once done. ] That's all I need to know.
[ Deep-seated denial, yes, compounded with warranted suspicion. It is easier to fault him than it is to search for an alternative explanation, to look more deeply into the strange sensation haunting her. Even more so when he is pressing her to reflect on it, mangling his intentions into a belief that this, too, is a means of toying with her for his own gain. His own amusement. ]
I'm not going to play your games.
no subject
[ He doubts it, he doesn't even need to search her to confirm that. She's hiding this from the Resistance. They aren't quite her comrades after all. ]
no subject
[ He hasn't denied it, at the very least, and so she clings tighter to it as a justification. If anything, she is more convinced he is patronizing her, leading her along with questions simply to mock her for her inexperience. ]
I'm not telling you anything.
[ He's not going to gain much from her directly answering any of his questions but ? ? ? He's Kylo Ren, and she isn't giving him that benefit of the doubt, doesn't trust that he won't cling to whatever he can to gain the upper-hand. ]
no subject
[ He's not bothering with anything else. It's useless. At this point he wants to get under her skin-- clearly he's made an impression. He intends to make a spot in her mind for him forever. ]
Where will you run to next? Skywalker?
[ -- Honestly he hasn't considered what would happen when they decide to pursue that lead. They did have all they need.
Were they planning on bringing him here? He can't imagine that would work given how thoroughly he seems to have decided to separate himself from the galaxy at large.
Still, a spindle of anxiety cracks through him. In the back of his mind, but there. He buries it for now. He'd deal with it when it came. No First Order to back him, no Snoke. He'd have to eliminate the Jedi Master himself.
Well, it's not as if he was a team player in the first place. ]
no subject
[ She says, simply. That approach is minimally effective when the truth is that she has remained stationary, patient, marking each passing day. If she has run, then it has been back to her parents, to the hope they may return for her. If she has run, it has been from a destiny that does not feel as though it is her own, one she would not have chosen for herself, when her life has hinged on surviving — all in the name of waiting for her belonging, her home, to find her. ]
But you are. [ The spike of anxiety has not eluded her, transient as it had been. Like a shark scenting blood in the water, she'll remember its appearance. As if to drive the point home further, she knowingly adds: ] Ben.
[ Ben Solo, who has reinvented himself as Kylo Ren, and run from a family that loves him to achieve it. ]
no subject
His expression twitches just slightly at the use of his old name. She'd been there-- he'd been hunting her after all, he'd felt her nearby. Of course she heard it and it sounds like a curse. It'd really always been one. He had run from that life, that name, and she didn't care to know. This wasn't curiosity on her end, but a weapon. He's not to keen on giving her that quite yet. It wasn't earned, not in his opinion. ] Delusion doesn't suit you scavenger.
[ He knows her name by now. It rings through his head loudly. Snoke still demands her brought to him in the back of his mind, but he isn't going to give her the pleasure of hearing her name from his lips yet. ]
Where did you get that-- [ He nods his head toward the hilts dangling from her belt. Specifically his grandfather's. ] It doesn't belong to you.
[ I'm so ready for the hilarious mix up of her thinking he's referring to his lightsaber. ]
no subject
She shakes the thought away, vainly hoping it will take the feeling with it. It doesn't, stealing whatever satisfaction she might have derived from turning the tables upon him. ]
I'm not ashamed of what I am. [ He'll have to do better than 'scavenger.' It speaks to her survival, her endurance. In that, she is without shame. ] Not like you are, Ben Solo.
[ Ashamed enough to hide his face, take a new name, shape himself into something else. It's presumptuous, yes, but he has opened the floodgates by antagonizing her. She takes little issue in doing the same. ]
Your father gave it to me for safekeeping. It's mine now.
[ As in: bitch we both know you're never going to behave enough to earn it back. Scavenger, indeed. ]
no subject
The other one. [ It was his, by right. With Luke running scared and in hiding, with his mother not daring to take up any mantle-- he had earned his grand father's light saber. Really, only the glass stops him from attempting to call either to his hand at this point. He's not worried about Rey holding on to either for very long. ] I don't recall you having it on your form when I took you.
[ He'd kept close guard on her after all, hadn't let anyone else touch her. Insert your metaphor of choice here. It is actually that creepy. ]

None of your business. [ She spits with all of the vitriol of a sandcat. It hardly matters that the information she could give him likely can't be wielded against her. If it can, she won't take that slim chance; even if it is all useless in his hands, it still isn't his place to ask. She owes him nothing, answers included. ] It chose me.
[ There's a possessiveness there that she can't hide. There have been few things of value that have ever belonged to her. She won't give up one so easily to Kylo Ren. ]

He will stand here. She has no advantage in this conversation, everything to lose. In his books, he's winning. She's wielded his name and his failures to his face, but he had nothing to lose. While she was tenuously gripping on to everything she'd been tossed in the past day or two at most. ]
It chose you? When exactly did that happen?
[ If it happened before he captured her, she hadn't accepted it. He'd felt her uncertainty and fear, she'd run from it (from him) then. And if it happened on this base??? There was hardly anyone here qualified enough to tell her that Anakin Skywalker's blade was choosing her. He steps closer to the glass-- there's no move to break through it, but there's an impression he could if he wanted to. Smash it to bits and challenge her head on-- ]
Is that another lie you're telling yourself? [ He doesn't actually believe that. Saying the weapon called for her is far too specific knowledge for a scavenger from Jakku. ] Or did someone else try to deceive you?

[ She challenges, petulant. It's childish, certainly, but he had begun this by prodding at her like an adolescent. And though he parades himself as though he is some position of enlightenment, more knowledgeable than she, he is diligent in digging for answers.
In this, he is just as lost as she. Allowing the curiosity to eat away at him is more satisfying than reciting what she had seen, the voices curling around the shell of her ear, whispering to her as she'd come closer.
She stands, then, a sudden movement. It doesn't sit well with her that he is looming, pacing around his cage like a predator searching out a weakness in the structure of his cage. If he means to intimidate her, it won't work; every muscle she has tenses, prepping for a skirmish. ]
I already told you. I'm not telling you a kriffing thing.

If he had that power, he would be ripping answers from her mind at this moment. The truth is much more interesting, quite frankly. ]
Fine. [ His response is curt. And honestly, there's no more good to be gained from this "conversation" they're having. He might as well get some rest away from this madness. (Honestly probably the longest conversation he's had with someone in a while?)
But, a parting present. To spite her and whatever the hell is going on with the Force. This connection, the electricity between them. He lifts his hand deliberately, eyes focused, clear, and dark upon her. It may seem as if he's going to grab for the hilts at her hips, for the chairs or her mind.
Instead she'll feel warmth on her cheek smell leather near her face-- and he can feel the softeness of it on his empty outstretched fingers. A circuit closed with very little effort on his part. He drags his fingers down-- a ghostly caress as he drags his thumb across her lower lip. ]
Good night, Rey.
[ With that he retracts the contact entirely, his hand pulled to his side as he turns and climbs back into the cot, curling on his side-- not even taking the time to enjoy her reaction.
No, he'll rely on the Force to relay it. ]

Repulsion, she tells herself, and nothing else. She ignores the underlying notes of something she can't quite name entwined with it, and the electric current that continues to ripple through her skin. ]
You're disgusting.
[ His use of the Force to intimidate her with intimacy is revolting. But she has to reinforce for herself, and for the both of them, that she had felt nothing beyond that. She steps away once he's settled himself on the cot, fingers twitching and flexing at her sides, before she seats herself back on that metal bench.
Sleep eludes her. She doesn't trust that he won't rampage through the glass once she has captured it, and so the slips she does achieve are few and far between. When morning comes, she is jolted out of it — unsure of when she had given in — by the opening of the door. Finn. Her expression and body language soften immediately.
'Easy,' he tells her with levity. 'Brought you something.'
And then he slides the tray in his hands into her lap. Rey digs in eagerly as Finn assesses her. When she gives him a questioning look, crumbs clinging to her mouth, he reassures her that he had only been checking to make sure nothing had been done to her. ]
Nothing happened.
[ She means it two-fold. First, to affirm that it was nothing to her. Insignificant. Not worth mentioning to Finn, if Kylo believed he could unnerve her. Second, she isn't certain what had occurred. What is occurring. Guilt makes her stomach drop out from beneath her, obscuring the truth from Finn this way, but she doesn't know what he'd think of her if he knew she felt a draw toward that monster.
'General Organa called a meeting,' he tells her once Rey has done and Finn has filled her in on what he's been doing since they arrived. He has a bunk, he says, with Dameron. The Resistance is still trying to find a task for him, but they're good people in his eyes. Gathering the empty tray, he then stands. 'We've got the rest of the map. Poe will let us know what she decides.'
Chances are she will send Han after him, Rey thinks. They're family. She can only wish she was there with him rather than guarding their number one prisoner. But she nods, all the same, watching Finn leave. ]

Kylo hasn't slept much-- he doesn't normally anyhow. He had other things to worry about, even when not captured by the enemy. (Some deep deep deep part of him notes how ridiculous it is that he is calling his family the enemy, but it's so deep at this point he's able to quash it with out really any effort on his part). But knowing he's connected to this girl isn't helping him get comfortable. He's not sure how easily the thoughts would flow, how much of his mind she could tap into and with how much effort. She already saw his desire to become the next Darth Vader, he isn't want for her to have access to his unconscious mind.
So he stays quietly awake for the most part, able to clear his mind and remain blank. Her own mind is intrusive, anxiety bursting in when she finds herself on the verge of a deeper sleep, the occasional sound or smell of an ocean-- that island she dreams of. And-- of course, the loneliness she fights. The last one isn't entirely unusual to him, she hasn't noted it yet, too afraid to examine anything beyond herself too closely.
And then there's the traitor. Finn now he supposes. He has to wonder where Phasma was and how annoyed she and General Hux must be about Finn. And honestly, Hux must be practically coming in his own pants over the fact that Kylo was captured. What kind of plan would he be brewing up to get Kylo back at Snoke's behest-- he knows that he had something new up his sleeve, but he hadn't been privy to the specifics.
It easier to think on that then deal with the bullshit of Rey's responses. Meant to rile him and assure herself that she had everything under control. And then they chatter incessantly and he wonders if he'd be allowed ear plugs or if this is their own form of torture. Maybe he could throw them both using the Force just to get away from the banal chat of how they are both so excited to be here now.
And then Luke's name comes up. Rather-- the implication of Luke's name. Something churns at the pit of his stomach, dark and ashamed-- he buries it, attempts to cover it up with anger and malice. Complete spite to use to fuel him---
And unfortunately that spike of emotion was enough for Snoke to feel, systems away. Attuned to the actions of his apprentice, to the flickers of intention and thought-- Kylo's never been strong enough to fight him off.
It's as if someone's stabbed him with a bright white hot butcher's knife-- tearing at him, pulling apart the strings of sinew and muscle that make up his mind. It's emotional, mental, physical, there is no place that Kylo exists that he doesn't feel Snoke at this moment. And Snoke had been used to Kylo's consent-- from the time he started to form himself in his mind, from the time there had been no Kylo Ren and only Ben Solo. But with out that consent, Snoke has no hesitations in taking from him violently.
'Where?'
The demand is incessant, loud, suffocating. Clawing into the depths of him, forcing him to recall any knowledge that may bring light to the location of the last jedi.
'Where is he?'
He tries to respond, he can't tell if he's speaking out loud or speaking to his master through the Force. Pleading, saying he knows nothing at this point. That he needs more time-- more guidance.
It's at this point he realizes that he'd been screaming out loud the entire time. He can only hope the door wasn't open when this started or Rey wouldn't be the only one witness to this.
Rey.
'Maybe the girl then?'
His eyes snap open, he's half off the bunk. He's torn through sheets, his hand is poised and outstretched (Nearly attempting to use the Force to protect him as a reflex, he stops himself. He still begs the Force to stop this, to protect him), he can feel he's tensed tightly-- as if he was a rubber band pulled taut between the fingers of a grade schooler, his mother's energy flickers around him in awareness in worry--
He shoves him out. Pushing with all of his strength. Pulling each nail from his being and--
Shaking, ashamed, confused-- he's left alone suddenly. Sharply. He feels it so wholly, he's nearly ready to beg for Snoke to come back.
'Do not disappoint me.'
An inky whisper as Kylo Ren is left gasping for breath-- pulling himself back on to the cot. ]

Some of the pounding in his head flows into her, a dull ache at the back of her skull, but she pushes it away in her defensiveness. Every muscle in her body has tightened in preparation for a fight, lips pulled back around her teeth to add to the impression of a feral animal tapping into its fight-or-flight reflexes.
That's what it has to be. Believing Kylo Ren's outburst — and the extended fingers that call her back to a cold, sterile interrogation chamber — to be a result of an attempted escape is easier to process than his shrill screaming and the shaking of every limb. ]
What are you — [ The sentence never finishes. She grinds her teeth together, hand poised at her belt. Tellingly, she doesn't switch either saber on. ] — Stop.
[ But he doesn't. He hasn't. His screaming echoes in her head long after it's stopped and he is shaking on his cot. It nearly drowns out the sound of heavy footfalls and the hiss of the door as the guards stationed outside filter in, hands on their blasters. 'What happened?' one asks her, while never peeling his eyes away from Kylo Ren's form. She can nearly taste the guard's apprehension, and the way he's twitching for any excuse to leap into the fray. ]
I don't know.
[ It's the truth. He appears irritated by that, but her mind is spinning. 'Get General Organa,' he says the other. When his comrade hesitates, he insists 'now', and watches as they scurry away. ]
This tag is entitled: Kylo Ren is an actual immature bratty child
He feels her. Leia Organa. Her signature is distinct and frightened-- his mind is too muddled and he thinks, at first, she's scared of facing him again. He wonders if she's started to recognize him for what he is and that's when he realizes she's frightened for him.
It's too much.
His hand comes up and he grasps at the Force. It may seem as though he's ready to crash through the glass or force his way out-- but nothing happens. Nothing but a click until--
'What's going on?' Leia Organa comes in like a hurricane. Red-faced and out of breath, it seems as if the guards couldn't keep up wit her-- or perhaps were going for reinforcements. She doesn't give Rey much of a chance to respond before she grips at the door which leads into the cell and yanks at it. Cursing with the exact type of language you imagine Leia Organa would possess, but with a vigor that would probably surprise Rey.
Ah.
He's locked himself in. At least as long as he can keep his concentration up enough to keep the door firmly shut. ]
